LOK ADALAT VISIT – OBSERVATION

Lok Adalat, or the “People’s Court,” is a key way to resolve disputes in India without lengthy court cases. It was set up under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, to offer quick, affordable, and friendly solutions. When I visited Lok Adalat with Advocate ............, he guided me and showed me how the system works in practice.

While I was there, I watched a family dispute case about alimony between a husband and wife. The issue was about maintenance and financial support. The process was calm and informal, and both sides could share their views. The panel, which included a judge and conciliators, encouraged open discussion and understanding. Thanks to their guidance and negotiation, the couple reached an agreement and settled the matter peacefully, avoiding a long court process.

Visiting a Lok Adalat helped me see how it works in practice and why it matters in India’s legal system. I saw how these methods help people settle disputes peacefully and take pressure off the courts. It also showed me that even sensitive issues like family disputes can be solved calmly and quickly. Overall, the visit taught me the value of compromise and working together to achieve justice.

 

MEDIATION CENTRE VISIT – OBSERVATION

The Mediation Center helps solve disagreements without going to court by using a neutral mediator to assist both sides in finding an agreement. Mediation encourages understanding and the voluntary reaching of a deal. I visited the mediation center with Advocate .............., who showed me around and explained how it works.

While I was there, I saw different types of disputes being handled through mediation. One main case involved a dispute between a husband and wife over maintenance, communication, and responsibilities. I also saw property disputes among relatives, small financial disagreements, and misunderstandings in personal relationships. In each case, the mediator helped both sides share their concerns openly in a calm and private setting.

The mediation process was relaxed and focused on open dialogue rather than fights. The mediator ensured both sides were heard and helped them reach an agreement. They used skills such as careful listening, negotiation, and guidance to solve problems. In the family case, the mediator helped both sides understand each other, leading to a solution they both agreed on. Most problems were solved peacefully, saving time and money.

Visiting the Mediation Center showed me how helpful mediation is for solving disputes. I saw that it not only reduces the burden on courts but also helps maintain strong relationships, especially in family matters. Mediation promotes working together, privacy, and agreements made by choice, making it a kind way to settle conflicts. Overall, the visit was very informative and gave me a clear understanding of peaceful dispute resolution.

 

COURT VISIT –  OBSERVATION

Visiting the District Court with Advocate ................. helped me see how the law works in practice. Watching real cases made legal ideas feel more real, and the advocate’s guidance helped me link what I’ve learned in class to actual legal practice.

I watched both civil and criminal cases in different courtrooms, each one organized and disciplined. The judge led the sessions firmly and made sure the rules were followed. Lawyers presented their arguments using facts, laws, and past cases, while court staff handled paperwork and kept everything running smoothly.

In a civil case seeking to recover money, the plaintiff said their requests for payment were ignored. Their lawyer pointed out the breach of the agreement and presented documents as proof. The defendant’s lawyer argued the claim was too high and asked for more time to collect evidence. The judge listened carefully, asked questions, and paused the hearing to ensure fairness. Seeing the judge protect everyone’s rights showed me how committed the court is to justice.

The visit taught me about courtroom etiquette, such as dressing formally, speaking respectfully, and remaining quiet when needed. I saw how cases move from filing to arguments and evidence, and I noticed that delays are common. I also learned how challenging it is for lawyers to handle many cases while still working hard for each client.

Overall, visiting the court was a valuable learning experience. It helped me better understand how courtrooms work, improved my advocacy skills, and showed me the importance of discipline and preparation. I’m sure this experience will help shape my future as a lawyer.

 

LEGAL AID CAMP – OBSERVATION

Harlal School of Law organized a Legal Aid Camp in ______ village to raise awareness about women’s rights and share basic legal knowledge with the rural community. I was able to take part in this camp, and it turned out to be a very informative and valuable experience. The main goal was to help women understand their legal rights and encourage them to seek justice if they faced discrimination, violence, or exploitation.

At the camp, we talked about key issues affecting women’s rights, including domestic violence, maintenance, education, property rights, and protection from workplace harassment. Students and faculty spoke with villagers and explained the laws in clear, simple terms. We also handed out pamphlets and other materials to help spread awareness.

I spoke with villagers and helped explain their rights and the legal options available to them. Many women opened up about their personal challenges, such as family disputes, financial dependence, and not knowing about legal protections. Our team offered advice and encouraged them to reach out to the right legal authorities when necessary.

The camp demonstrated the importance of legal awareness in rural areas, where many people still do not know their basic rights. It also showed how law students can help society by supporting justice and equality. Taking part in this initiative helped me better understand social issues and made me feel more responsible as a future legal professional.

Overall, this experience made a strong impact on me and showed how legal aid can help bring positive change by empowering women and improving access to justice in local communities.
